As salamu alaikum Sidi,
My name is Zacharia Ionno and I live in Ohio, USA. I have been enjoying you blog for the past few months and benefitted from reading it, InshAllah. You seem to be a very thorough researcher, and I was wondering what you might have come across on the alleged traditions of the Prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him) forecasting the coming of Abu Hanifah (Allah be pleased with him). There is a few of them, and I’m sure you know of them. I can’t find much by sunni scholars, just wahabis.
Any light you could shed on these narrations would be appreciated. May Allah reward.
Please make dua for this wannabe.
wa salam,
Zacharia

Wa ‘alaykumus Salam Sidi,
The Sahih narration is ‘”If Faith were at (the place of) Ath-Thuraiya (pleiades, the highest star), even then (some men or man from these people (i.e. Salman’s folk) would attain it.” (Bukhari) Hafidh Suyuti in Tabyid said this is concerning Imam Abu Hanifa, and he goes on to say there’s no need to quote fabricated reports as this is sufficient.
I’ve seen the other narrations, especially where Imam Abu Hanifa is mentioned by name, they’re fabricated.
From Sunnah.org : Imam as-Suyuti a Shafi’i alim (rh) remarked:”It has been communicated unanimously that this hadith refers to Imam Abu Hanifah.”
JazakAllahu ta’ala al-khayr for the kind words.
Keep me in your dua’.
